I listed these earrings last month, with November's Maker Challenge, "Winter Wonderland" in mind, and finally entered them into the challenge. The idea was inspired by one of my favorite photographs, “The Chase: Wolves in Yellowstone”, by Lisa Aikenhead. It was an award-winning photo of a pure white snowy background with silhouettes of trees and running wolves. Prior to her move to the Pacific Northwest, Lisa's work was in Gold Country Artists Gallery in Placerville, Calif., the same gallery where my sister, Bev Austin, sells her paintings. I met Lisa a couple of times, and remember several years ago when she posted on her FB page "The Chase" photo. I messaged with Lisa this morning and she gave me permission to credit her photo as my inspiration for the earrings, as well as the "other" entry I'll be submitting. Lisa has a page on her website called "Shared Inspirations" where other artists have interpreted her photographs into original art forms. With the original artist's permission, of course, who else has used another artist's work as inspiration for a personal, alternate, and unique interpretation?
